It's Friday! Praise the Lawwwd! Brooklyn Boy and I are having a massive stoop sale (i.e. Brooklyns version of a garage sale) on Saturday and are in full organization / clean out / give away mode. Strangely - it's been such a great process. We've been married long enough where we know what we're using and enjoying and what we're not. So it's been easy (and kinda freeing!) to pair down.  While we gear up for that, I've also been wrapping up a client design plan and have been researching artwork. Did you know Anthropologie has a huge art selection online? Some pricey stuff for sure, but unique and beautiful nonetheless! Thought you should know. 

mom's advice

When feeling overwhelemed, mom says to -

Pray, drink lots of water, chip away one thing at a time and don't eat any sugar.

Books of the day

While I'd love to give you a full on life update, I noticed this stack of books in our apt this morning and instead thought, Hu, this literally sums us up.  Let me elaborate . . .

Dave Ramsey - Mr. & Mrs. Brooklyn Boy are taking our finances really serious this year! There is something about the start of the new year that is so motivating. So we're running with that momentum and have been reading up on Mr. Ramsey. This book comes back into play a few paragraphs down.

Pioneer Woman - Fail. I never cook. If I do it's one of three things I have in my 'rotation', as my sister calls it, and it always involves chicken. So, to help fix that, I've been reading cookbooks on my commute and I'm LOVING it. Even got into a full blown conversation about Pioneer Woman with a man on the subway. Yea. . . it wasn't creepy at all.

The Perfectly Imperfect Home - Now THAT sums it up. We've got piles everywhere and are about to have more. We have news. I think (well, to be honest, I know) we're moving apartments! The reasoning is two fold really - we've been thinking and praying a lot about our current apartment that we love. But ultimately, we just needed to pay less. High five Dave Ramsey! So we're moving down the street to a charming (affordable!) one bedroom that I will be posting pictures of! 

Nate Berkus - Love him. I really do. Been contemplating a lot lately about why my 'next step' is. I've been thinking about how much I loved contributing to the Nate Berkus Show. I've been thinking about how much I love blogging. I've also been thinking about how great my department at work is and how HARD new can be! No real resolve here, just been thinking a lot. Maybe you know what I should do next!

Vintage Cocktails - This book was a Christmas present from Brooklyn Boy, they sell it at Anthro. It has really striking photography and super cool handwritten recipes. Ever since my not so little brother introduced us all to BLT (Bourbon, Lemon & Tonic. Mix the proportions however you see fit) over Christmas, they've become  staple in our house. This book would make a great gift, ps!

brooklyn boy and i are trying to pair down these days. january seems to fuel that looming sense of simplification. i love it and i'm workin' with it.

Back from the holidays! How were yours? We covered Houston, Dallas, Tulsa and Dallas again. We had a ball! Now mom and dad are in town for my old roommates wedding tomorrow - we don't stop around here :) 

In hopes of catching up, here's my round up of the pre Christmas Design & DIY festivities . . .

1 - Hester Street Fair DIY Workshop

DIY last minute sign made of an IKEA tray and chalkboard paint! But that wasn't the actual craft! That was just me trying to get out the door that morning. One day I'll tell you about Brooklyn Boy and I setting up the miter saw in our apartment hallway because it was raining and we had to cut all this d*mn wood and then coincidentally being sick over the next week because of all the saw dust hiding in our apartment . . . 

We made simple wood frames using old rustic wood, plexi glass, upholstery nail head and paint. Not only did they turn out cute, but we had a lovely turn out of New Yorkers! 

2 - theknot.com DIY Wedding Webisodes

We filmed 6 different DIY wedding related projects. They'll be airing as online webisodes sometime this winter. I'll keep ya' posted. Theknot.com ladies were great and their offices were super mod and clean. Loved it. 

3 - West Village Apartment Install

Apologies for the iphone pics here! Haven't had time to right a proper post on this. So hopefully my grainy instagram pics will seem cool and not so bush league :) 

Brooklyn Boy and I totally redid our clients West Village apartment. She gave us plenty of room to stretch our creative legs and let me tell you - we loved working on this project. Take note of that map fabric on the wingback!!
