DIY Bridesmaid Invites

Engagements and Weddings can be loaded with pressure to use every Pinterest idea you've ever seen, DIY all your wedding decor and look adorable 24/7. Well. That just isn't possible. I love Pinterest, but it can suck the life right out of you. Can I make a suggestion? Instead of DIY'ing yourself to death, pick a handful of approachable wedding opportunities to indulge your crafty side.

In my case, I chose my bridesmaid invites as spot I wanted to get creative. Recently, I joined The Knot.com a few weeks ago and filmed a DIY video on making DIY Invites, inspired by the very DIY Invites I gave my bridesmaids.

All materials from the Michaels on the upper west side :) Thank you very much darling Martha Stewart craft supplies!!

brooklyn boy = handyman

Check out Brooklyn Boy's handwork!

Last weekend, pre flu, he built shelves for some friends of ours using reclaimed wood from Build It Green and L brackets from Home Depot.

2 up, 1 to go!

He sanded and treated the wood with tung oil.

And measured and measured and measured. He's so patient with these project. Me. Not so much.

I'm more of an eyeball it kind of a person. Good thing he was leading this project or I would have built some seriously wonky shelves.

But his turned out perfectly!

Good job babe!

Brooklyn Baby Style Board

I've been helping a dear Brooklyn friend plan for her first babies arrival in May! Like me, she grew up in Texas, and is all about infusing a little Texas Forever style into the baby room. We're trying to blend old with new and Texas with Brooklyn. Here's where we've sorted out so far!

1. Rope Lamp  //  2. Metal Letter  //  3. Mini Cow Hide  //  4. Antlers  //  5. Changing Pad Cover  //  6. Brooklyn Poster  //  7. US Poster

100 Cameras

Have you heard about 100 Cameras? I've mentioned them before a while back. A friend of mine introduced me years ago and I've been hooked ever since. As someone who works full time in the photography (via producing at an ad agency) industry, I'm inspired by this intentional and purposeful way to use photography.

The premise is so simple.

Their site says it best. 100 cameras empowers marginalized children to document their lives through photography and to create positive change in their own communities. 100% of the money from the children's purchased prints is used to raise awareness and capital to meet physical needs and empower sustainable growth within their community.

Practical way to get involved? Stop by their site any purchase a print. Looking for affordable and interesting art? Here's your chance!

Amazing, hu?

Give photography. Change a community.
